It spun freely and I was able to spin it and it started again but then after about 15 minutes it quit altogether. No humming anymore either.
sometimes its very hard to remove the fan blade from the motor. if you look for electric motor repair and parts in yellow pages, u can bring the motor in and they will match it up and remove the blade for you. also bring in the capacitor. when removing the capacitor, remove wires with needle nose pliers and use pliers or screw driver with good rubber insulation on handle of tool and place between both sides where wires were. they hold a charge and if u touch both at once it will knock u on your butt!!! also the shop will set the rotation correctly for you. new motors turn in both direction so that has to be properly set with the wiring( tells u on motor how to set for cw or ccw clock wise...... they also have internal overload(old motor) so if to hot it will kill motor till it cools off then resets itself. grainger is ok if u are mech. inclined and have tools etc. either way u go replace capacitor with new motor, never reuse old cap. with new motor. good luck
If the humming has stopped then the motor has died. Either that or a fuse or relay on the control board has overloaded and blown. Best to get a tech in to check it out BEFORE more heat comes your way. Today we're expecting 99 degrees, but come Wednesday 104. Yikes. Sorry. (
Hello. My name is Richie. I am an electrician and a home improvement expert. I will help you the best I can. More that likely it is the motor. Smell the motor and see if it smell burned up. If so, you can replace it yourself by looking online at Grainger and getting a new motor. Grainger isn't cheap but they will have it. You will need to take off the old one before you take it to get a new one. Good luck and God Bless. Jesus Christ loves you.
