Question:

Chemistry Homework (webassign) - atoms gaining/losing electrons when forming ions?

Hey there,I just started Chemistry, and was given an assignement that is due for MondayUnfortunately, the Chemistry teacher didn't teach much of the material that is in it! I need some help with a couple questions, but this is the main one:Would you expect each of the following atoms to gain or lose electrons when forming ions? What ion is the most likely in each case? The atom's are: In, F, O, Ra, Na, and PUnderneath the atom name, there is a chemPad which allows you to enter the ion formedPlease help, I have no idea what to do!

Answer:

cut up an apple with some cinnamon poach some salmon, a 1/2 piece chill over night and take it with you .take some sauce if you like sauce.teryaki or tartar or dill, etcmake zucchini fritters in the evening and take with youslice of quiche container of cooked seasoned lentils sardines yogurt and honey

My 13 year old son takes his own lunch everydayI buy a variety of chicken and bake them in the oven in the morningIt takes only about 20 minutesTyson Chicken breast strips Bourbon Chicken Popcorn chicken chicken nuggets mini corn dogs canned lasagna Beefaroni beanie weenies (beans and hot dogs slices) Hot dogs french fries or tater tots Dinty Moore beef stew Dinty Moore chicken and rice Dinty Moore roast and mashed potatoes chicken noodle soup He takes assorted fruits fresh or prepackagedPears, peaches etcdried fruits such as cranraisins, cherries, blueberries sugar free cookies or those little 100 cal packs He usually drinks crystal light or it's generic equivalent or powerade or water with fruit flavor He's a runnerWe use insulated food thermoses that keeps the food cold or hot for at least 5 hours so that's perfect for his lunch.
Well it's simple The first 2 columns of the periodic table (and also include Aluminium) will always most likely lose electrons (i.ebecome more positive)Transition metals can gain or lose electrons tentatively so I won't go into that since you're only starting outThe non-metals i.ethe columns 4,5,6,7 will always gain electrons (i.ebecome more negative) F is in row 7 so will become F- O row 6, so will typically lose 2 electrons to become O2- Na row 2 Na2+ etc etc etc
