Question:

Chemistry - what is the ionic formula for aluminium chloride?

I've just started learning Chemistry and I don't know if I've gotten the formula rightIs this correct? It might be written out wrong, but is the negative and positive ions and the amount of electrons correct? al+3 cl-1 Also, is it correct or wrong that aluminium gives it's 3 electrons on its outer shell to 3 chlorides, so aluminium has lost 3 electrons and chlorine has gained 1 electron from thisThat's were I got the +3 and -1 from. Thanks for the help.

Answer:

Everything that you said is correct The formula is AlCl3
