This Site Might Help YouRE: can you lay ceramic tile on wood floor?
Yes you can but you need to first make sure your floor is level and that the floor is not warpedUse hardiebacker over the wood floor once you have the wood floor levelIf your house has a tendency to get unlevel, you may have some tiles crack on you because it does not move as much as other material, if the floor is all wood flooring.
GAK I lost all my efforts YES, is the direct answer to your Q, but you don't specify SPECIES or how you define WOODNo offense but GLIT/MDF/Particle board is NOT Wood I have to disagree in part with answer 1 I tile every day of my life and NEVER would I consider an underlayment under a tile floorI do suggest however that you could add the suggested concrete backer board (ANY TRADE NAME) as an additional substrate, but that will involve other issues, such as transition areas and any cove base molding, to remove and replace after the fact Leveling should be accomplished before you swipe the first trowel of mortar, but if the substrate is level as is, then you need not do much more than skim/fill backer board joints or screw depressions, though that will make little difference and may be a step you don't need to take, IT'S A FLOOR, gee Another issue as mentioned is the condition of the substrate, and/or if the install is not on the ground floorI think it's not so abstract to think of floor/ceiling joists, beams, trusses, on any second/third level, to NOT FLEX, especially in a newer structureIf you step on a floor NOW, and notice any flex, you should address that before ever doing any Tile, or even laminate This is truly an OK DIY thing, not Brain Surgery, and in all my years I have never gotten a complaint call back Steven Wolf Just my two sense
Believe it or not Future Floor Wax works like a hot dam. It's an acrylic floor finish that's tough and holds a shine for a long long time.I've used it to shine up beater bike for resale. It's cheap and easy to use By the way I learned this from a sucessful used car salesman.
