Question:

Colored light bulbs for my room?

I want some relaxing blue or black light bulbs for my room, but is this a good idea? White light is just boring.... Ideas? :D what would you do?

Answer:

My daughter bought colored bulbs for her room. She got a red, blue and green. It did NOT change the color of the room. It changed the color of the lamp shade. It is sorta like the colored Christmas tree lights. When you turn all the lights off in the room and only have the tree lit, your room is not colored. What my daughter ended up doing was to hang about 4 strings (600 lights) of the colored Christmas light on her ceiling. It turned out really cool looking.
billy brite's idea is best
Why not buy some LED lights that change colour, you can buy ones that are battery operated and dot them around the room, or the other alternative is a large floor standing lava lamp. Fibre optic lamps are also very colourful.
I think it's a good idea!!! just a suggestion... maybe place them in the four corners of your room and replace your main light with blue lights (or whatever your favorite color is :) i would do the same as well :)
Red, blue and green lights of equal intensity, creates white light. Believe me! So long as each light is bright enough that each would light the room all by itself, you can change the color of the room by placing each light on a dimmer control. With all dimmers turned up to maximum, the room would be white. As you lower one color light, the room color will change to a combination of the two dominating colors. By manipulating the dimmers, you could simulate the Sun rising, and setting. In addition to that, you could install Black Lights and paint stars on the ceiling with black light paint, then as you turn down the red, blue and green dimmers, and the black light is on, the stars would appear on the ceiling.
