Question:

components of cement?

hey does anyone know what are the components of cement??

Answer:

i assume you mean concrete which most people call 'cement.
If you meant concrete it's portland cement, sand, stone in the form of round or crushed rock and water. Modern concrete has additives like; 1) fly ash (processed from coal power plants) to replace some of the portland, it's cheaper 2) detergents to make bubbles, entrained air improves strength 3) chemicals such as calcium chloride to make it set up faster 4) other addmixtures to make it set up slower Everything depends on the mix design for the specific job.
Cement is made from limestone, calcium, silicon, iron and aluminum, plus lesser amounts of other ingredients.

Portland cement (Type 1) is one of the most commonly used. Its raw materials are Calcium carbonate (lime), Silica, Alumina and iron oxide. These ingredients are crushed and blended in correct proportions, under guidelines from standards of construction,(BSEN 197 In UK staandard.) There are over 35 different types of cement. Each with their advantages for specific type of construction.
