Answer:
I raised 3 children and ALWAYS made sure he or she remained warm.
We don't 'acclimate' babies, we just keep them comfortableIf they are hot, we take away a layerIf they are cold, we add a layerRight after birth babies aren't dressed right away to encourage skin to skin contact between mother and baby (with a blanket covering the pair, I might add), not to acclimate baby to room temperature.
Hospitals don't allow babies to lie around naked to acclimate themNewborns do not have the ability to thermoregulate, and are usually put skin to skin with a parentThey use the body heat of the parent to regulate their own temperatureIf they are not able to be held by the parents they often need warming lamps to keep their body temperature upThat is also why babies are often swaddled and given a hatThey lose more body heat than they can produce in the early daysThey do get better at it over time, but not because they are acclimated - they need to develop that physiological ability.
The baby is usually put on the mother's chest right after birth (when possible), not only to keep the baby warm, but also to comfort the baby and encourage him or her to nurse right awayIt's called being skin to skin and encourages bonding and breastfeedingMost hospitals recognize the importance of this special time now, and even when they take the baby to measure him/her and do a quick newborn check-up, they try to keep it brie and return the baby to the mother as soon as possibleSwaddling a newborn is also encouraged for reasons other than just keeping the baby warmYes, it does help with that since newborns need help regulating their body temperature, but swaddling a baby helps keep them calm and feel secureThey've been used to being tightly contained in the womb, so wrapping them up in a swaddle is comforting because it mimics how they felt in the wombAs babies get bigger they outgrow the need for a swaddle, and when they outgrow it depends on the babySome babies need to be completely wrapped up to sleep for many months, others start wanting one or both arms free, and some prefer not to be wrapped up at all.
They recently made it so that any new macbook with the aluminum uniboy is a macbook pro But before that there were mac laptops with aluminum unibody that were called macbook (not macbook pro)
