Question:

Copper Alloy?

Is there a way to differentiate a pure Copper item from that of a Copper Alloy just by simple means? e.g. weight or density?as in don't need all those complex lab experiments and apparatus? thank you. =)

Answer:

If the amount of copper is high and the alloying elements are close to copper in density, the density of the alloy will not differ much from pure copper. Electrical resistance is one way of differentiating the pure copper from alloys. If the components are of the same shape and size, a simple multipmeter will do to differentiate the resistance.
pure copper is malleable while an alloy is not = you can bend copper but not it's alloy. this is because impure copper has atoms of other substances which disrupts the order of copper atoms in pure metal= it makes it difficult to bend an alloy of copper.
