is there a weight difference between copper and metal bb's? if so what? list everything please..thanks
I don't think there are pure copper bb's. BB's generally are copper plated steel. A copper bb would weight less than a steel BB, and therefore have less momentum and penetrating power. T he copper plating eliminates corrosion of the BB and reduces erosion of the gun barrel, as copper is softer than steel. Copper bb's would also be considerable more expensive - but I've never seen one.
There are copper coated and zinc coated bbs , The zinc coated ones are heavier . The zinc coated ones look silver
All BB's are steel. They have a very thin coating on them. Weight and quality differences between various BBs is negligible.
BB's for air guns are typically copper-plated steel, as many or your respondents have stated. You can of course get lead and other BB shot for reloading shotshells. Lead BB's used to be packaged for air guns too, and obviously they'd be heavier. I still have a small metal can of them, I believe from the old Benjamin Air Rifle Company, maybe collectable by now. Did you know that small shot sizes can be roughly figured by subtracting the nominal shot size from the size of a 0.177 inch diameter BB? So #4 shot (for turkey hunting is about 0.14 inch, and #8 shot (for quail or skeet) is about 0.09 inch diameter.
they wieght the same. cuz it is just a copper coating
