Have a copper pipe that is leaking. The pipe goes to nowhere. Question is their a cap i can use without having to sauder it on to pipe? The pipe is 3/8
IF the pipe is verticle, it could be a stand pipe . if not, it is an old pipe that was cut and sealed.the seal has let loose. You can recut the pipe and use compression fittings to stop the leak. OR drain, solder a new cap in place. Your choice.
Go to Home Depot, go to the plumbing fittings and ask a store associate to show you to the Shark Bite fittings tell him or her that you need a 3/8 cap that is a Shark Bite. you can go home turn your water off and cut the pipe with a hack saw. Then the cap will fit , push on to the end of the pipe and you will have no more leaks. This is very easy. The Shark Bite Fittings will adhear to copper, pex or plastic. They are pressure fittings. The cast for one of these is under $5.
Go to your local Lowes or Home Depot and get a tube of copper pipe adhesive. It will attach a cap without sweating (or as you call it, soldering)
