Question:

copper iud and weight loss or gain?

what are your views? im booked to have the copper IUD "installed" so to speak... mainly because of the weight i have gained on the depo-provera.... the doc jumped up and said this is the best option for me? i have looked on the net and havent found anything with proof that its going to help me reduce the size i am.. im a size 14 and have a mammoth muffin top ... lol...anyhoo besides the weight jibes and POSITIVE help on the IUD would be very much appreciated

Answer:

Weight income isn't very user-friendly with a copper IUD because of the fact it does not use hormones. although, heavy bleeding would be. My sister has a copper and her era is very heavy (while in comparison with what it grew to become into pre-IUD). She has had it for six years now and this has not replaced for her. After 6 months or so your physique ought to have adjusted to the exchange, heavy bleeding may be a certainty for you at present. while you're worried communicate with your wellbeing care provider.
Just switching birth control is not going to make you loose the weight you gained. Eating healthy and exercise are important and if you take care of yourself you can loose the weight.
Copper Iud And Weight Loss
I have had the Copper IUD since August 2009... & so far....it just does what its supposed to do (Stop making babies!) I have a condition that makes it harder for me to lose weight so I opted for the copper IUD to prevent me from gaining weight with a hormone IUD. I have been able to lose some weight but it has nothing to do with the IUD, just plain old healthy eating & exercise (with Insanity & P90x videos. The only gross thing I have to complain about the Copper IUD is the discharge....for the first few months. At first it had a weird smell & color...but the dr. said that its normal until your body gets used to it. Sorry if thats TMI. The smell is gone, The discharge has almost gone away & I dont really have bad menstrual pain. Hope this info helps!
