i had the copper iud placed about 5 months ago ever since i have had HORRIBLE cramps, EXCESSIVE bleeding to the point that i dont think i can lose anymore blood and i get it 2 times a month and both times are for 8-10 days and when i have sex i get a painful sharp piercing pain are these normal side effects.
I've had a Mirena IUD for six years. After 15 years at the capsule, I could not take the hormones anymore. The hormones within the Mirena have no longer been bothersome in any respect. I selected the Mirena over the copper IUD considering that the copper IUD more often than not raises the bleeding and cramping while the Mirena IUD decreases it. The insertion harm (as good because the elimination and re-insertion as it's well for five years so I had mine changed final yr). My intervals had been erratic for the primary four or five months, however were heavenly brief on the grounds that then. I am a childfree girl in my 30s. The health practitioner did not query my choice for the IUD in any respect in spite of my by no means having (and in most cases by no means in need of to have) youngsters. Good success discovering the alternative that's proper for you.
When I was deciding on birth control I considered a copper IUD because it doesnt use any hormones and my doctor told me that all of what you just described would happened. She said the its the copper in the the IUD that causes horrible cramps, heavy bleeding, and irritation. I went for the Mirena IUD instead. If you want an IUD, Mirena is a much better choice than a copper IUD. Mirena has a little bit of a hormone and either stops the bleeding all together, or makes your periods much lighter and shorter. I have had Mirena for almost 6 months, I love it. I never have to worry about taking a pill. I get really slight cramps about every 4 weeks, sometimes I don't get cramps at all, they normally last for about an hour. I get very very light spotting that last for about 4 days, sometimes I don't bleed at all! I deffinetly think you should switch birth control.
The copper IUD can lead to heavier, more painful periods. If it's becoming unbearable for you, I would definitely have it checked out and maybe even removed. If you want an IUD, Mirena is a much better choice than a copper IUD. That depends on the woman. Not every woman tolerates hormonal birth control well. I don't. That's why I got the copper T, and I love it. Not every woman gets heavier, painful periods on it. I didn't really. I know a few women whose periods got shorter and lighter on the Paragard, actually. It just depends on the woman. Some women are not good candidates for the copper IUD, while others are not good candidates for the Mirena. I know a woman who chose the Mirena because she heard that her periods might get lighter or even go away, and she ended up with heavier, extremely painful periods on it, so she had it pulled. I know several women who had their Mirenas pulled because of bad hormonal side effects. Neither one is inherently better than the other - it just depends on the person.
NO i would get it checked out . It should not hurt you during sex , just your partner will feel the string in the beginning a little till it softens over time. Periods are stronger though and last about 6-7 days with me. But i get them only once a month and every three months a light 2 day spotting as the cycle changes. But other than that i have no problems with it. I have it now for 2 years. So go see a doctor and make sure its still in the right place.
