Question:

Copper Sensitive Animals?

My bag of horse treats says "Do Not Feed to Sheep or other Copper Sensitive Species." Can I feed them to my pigs? I couldn't figure if they are copper-sensitive or not. Thanks!

Answer:

Pigs don't usually fall into the category of copper sensitive animals, but it would be a good idea to avoid it. If a treat is labeled for horses, it should only be given to horses. The best solution I've found is cheap vanilla wafers. Not the brand name ones in the box, the ones in the plastic bag. They have almost no calories and animals love them. We give them to our dogs, horses, mules, hogs, pot bellied pigs, sheep and goats. You don't have to worry about copper or sulfur or anything like that.
