Question:

Copper & Silver?

A 10 g piece of copper heated to 50'c would feel hoteer in yr hand than a 10 g piece of silver also heated to 50;c when holding for same period of time. if the copper and silver can conduct heat equally well, explain why

Answer:

Heat=mass X specific heat X change in temperature With the same mass and the same change in temp, (50o to 37o) the difference is the specific heat of the 2 metals. Copper =.092 silver=.055 Copper will hold more heat at 50o because it has a higher specific heat
Actually silver is a slightly better conductor than copper. The silver will give away its heat faster, therefore cool faster.
