Question:

coppers: whats the WORST part of your job?

coppers: whats the WORST part of your job?

Answer:

I wouldn't say there's any worst part of the job. There is a high divorce and infidelity rate among law enforcement, just like in medical and military careers. There's always the chance you become assaulted, or worse. Being held over to cover shifts isn't fun when you want to go home after doing your shift.
I'm not quite sure what you are asking. What is the worst thing about being a police officer? or what is the worst thing I have to do as a police officer? so what i'll do is answer both. In answer to the first; there is the expectation from the judiciary (at least in the QLD Magistrates courts system) that all police officers are liars. This has brought about police using digital video and audio recorders on their person so that this stops. In answer to the second: the worst job for me is death messages. To be that person standing on the doorstep hat in hand and telling someone that their loved one is dead, particularly as a result of something so stupid it defies description (drink driver, drunken bar fight, suicide). As a police officer we are all things to all people and no time more so than when you have said to them My name is Constable . I'm so sorry to have to tell you that your is dead because of you become comforter, councillor, friend and priest all wrapped up together. There is no easy way to say it, no way to make it any less hard for the person you are telling. That is the worst part of my job for me.
Ok I personally am not a police officer but my dad was L.A.P.D for over 20 years and before that he was a prison guard and from his stories the worst part of the job seemed to be the guilt. He would always think like what if I had been watching harder or such. He has had to live with the death of a fellow officer and multipul other civilians all his life. But he is also one of the proudest men you will every meet and he really is a hero. He spent 1 tour in the gulf war 3 tours in iraq/afghanistan, 20+ years on the force, and 8+ years as a prison guard. God bless all the people in the many great services that keep us safe, home and abroad
