Question:

Could a new coth sofa cause breathing problems?

My 81 yr. old dad bought a new cloth sofa. He is now having a lot of breathing problem. Could the sofa be causing this and how can I found out? Will the business take the sofa back?

Answer:

He could be sensitive to the fumes from the glue and/or the chemicals used to treat the upholstery. You will have to check with the store and find out what their return policy is.
I've had the identical crisis earlier than, till I eventually got here out of the closet. It felt so well to eventually get that heavy load off my chest and I can eventually breath and no longer suppose responsible approximately getting lots ON my chest.
It is quite possible for the sofa to have a lot of dust or dirt inside of it. Maybe try vacuuming/ cleaning it and see what happens. If that doesn't work, call the store and see if they will take it back. Some would and some wouldn't. If they don't take it back try putting an ad in the newspaper to sell it. Good luck!
It could...maybe there is a chemical that the fabric was treated with? Some people are allergic to new clothing because of the chemicals in the fabric. I think it is a valid excuse to take the sofa back! When it comes to your health, it's too important. Of course it could be something else causing the breathing problems too. Definitely have him go to the Dr.
