Question:

could lightning powering a city fora at least a second?

well, what if you linked all the lights and electronic devices in a city like New York together.and the all the wires are coming to the tallest sky scraper to 1 lighting rod. If lightning were to strike it, would the ENTIRE city light up for at least a second?

Answer:

I'd be willing to go to war for Cortisone and KY Jelly.
Or we could just lift the bans on drilling in America. We don't need to spend an outrageous amount of money on world babysitting and nation building to insure that we have our fuel.
Well your list includes artificial limbs and when you go to war you end up needing some of those sooner or later. So really this is kind of a the chicken or egg argument
Inever heard of any company paying anybody until SS starts-are you sure you weren't misinformed. The only way they would continue to get paid is if they used sick time- SS disability can take 2-3 years to get approved for-I can't imagine a company payign a salary that long- It also depends if someone 'retires' on disability-but the retirement benefit wouldn't stop when SS begins. If you are only temporarily disabled-there is the FMLA that protects your job under certain conditions I am doubtful you will continue to get paid.
Now you are actually trying to justify going to war to take the resources of other countries. I can't support that. I think it is unethical and immoral. Worse yet, I deplore and oppose lying about the reason. When George H.W. Bush honestly stated that a basis for the 1st Gulf War was oil, he could also justify the action because Iraq had invaded Kuwait. If you can’t bargain for the resources that you need then use an intermediary. Do what you have to do in order to avoid killing people and destroying countries. Japan attacked us because we stopped selling them oil and they were afraid of US interference in their quest for oil in the East Indies. They bombed our Pacific fleet in order to try to prevent that interference. Don’t tell me that you would actually defend and justify the attack on Pearl Harbor based on Japan’s need for oil. Your morality must have some parameters.
