I recently learn abuot melting pieces of crayons into new shape crayons and think it would be adorable to be able to give eache of my nephews a set with their namesProblem is I can't find a mold in town with letter and I don't have enough time to send for them.My question is: Is there anyway to manipulate the crayons without getting burn in order to shape them into letters and without using a mold?

You could use a tile or tin foil or thick aluminum foil as the base Or even the floorFirst try out with some old crayons till you get comfortable working with themAnd if the wax tends to stick to the surface of the tile, etcthen grease it before beginning with the actual set of crayonsFirst draw the letter lightly on the tile [you can use chalk too]Then melt the crayon very slowly slightly - just enough for you to be able to mold it into the shape of the letterThis may be a tad laborious coz you don't want the crayon to breakDo it a little at a time - don't force the crayon into desired shape - do it very graduallyOnce the shape is achieved, wait for it to drySimilarly, shape the other crayons in required lettersHope this helps?
