i'm looking to have a mask molded and casted out of aluminum and finding a company who might do this for me would be much less time consuminghas anyone had something casted for them before and have any general estimate as to how much i might be looking at price wise? and where might i be able to have this done? would they have me send the mask made from something else to make the mold? how solid would it have to be? would paper mache with aluminum foil and chicken wire inside be sturdy enough to sand mold?
would paper mache with aluminum foil and chicken wire inside be sturdy enough to sand mold? almost certainly notthey are more likely to want either a wood or plaster original for sand work or a wax original for lost wax or they will pull molds from a model done in clay or other firm materialFor a mask, it has to be a thin shell, I am guessing, which means that sand casting would require a core to fit inside the pounded sand of the details of the maskAnd you would have to make the model so it can be pulled from the sand, which may not be easyLost wax would be betterAnd how far east in Canada? - there is a lot of Canada east of Montreal.
