Question:

Cutting a copper pipe close to the wall (in tight quarters)?

Usually, I would use a tube cutter which goes round and round the pipe. However, the pipe is close to the wall so the tube cutter won‘t fit. Any ideas on how to remove this section of pipe?

Answer:

yes actually it is and i am pretty sure crickets
Would a small pipe cutter work? They are relatively cheap. You could also use a hacksaw or an oscillating tool.
A compact tubing cutter is about the smallest item I have used for cutting in a close area. It requires about 1 of clearance to the wall.
I'd probably use a metal cutting wheel on my dremel. I don't exactly get what you're trying to do, but if you want to cut it flush with the wall, a dremel or one of the vibrating cutters will do the job. The vibrating cutter will be the best choice. However, if you don't have one, or a Dremel, I have successfully used what used to be called a Ginsu knife. It has to be the quality ones, made by quikcut of ohio, not the Showtime ones by Popeil, or the cheap China ones. They simply won't do it. There are other less neat methods, like cutting it as short as you can with the regular cutter, then snipping away with some tin snips. It is copper, and relatively soft, nearly anything will cut it, including bolt cutters. Use what whatever is at hand. there is a cutting tool that is made like a garrotte.
