I saw a wide range of prices for vacuum cleaners...I just need a decent one, how much should that cost?
I recently bought a new vacuum cleaner and really looked into it before I bought. I have a lot of pets, including a very large, hairy dog and a small budget, so I needed something REALLY good for a low price. I got the Eureka Boss 4D, model 4893. It cost me $139.99 and in my opinion is it better than ANY cleaner I've ever used, including Dysons. It's heavy though, I'd not recomend it if you have any mobility problems like arthritis or similar.
You can get a very good vacuum cleaner for about one hundred thirty dollars this would be a Panasonic Upright vacuum cleaner, it is lightweight easy to maneuver powerful suction twelve amp motor and last long best yet reliable, you can get a cheaper price than quoted if you go to vacuum stores and beat their price down by acting as if you are interested in several brands then ask to try one out ask for price of demonstrator and if it sounds too much money then say I am going to check out another dealer and start to walk out door the salesperson will not want you to leave and will make you a better deal Good Luck !
I happen to have a consumer reports online subscription, so i looked it up for you in the members only area. They rate the upright vaccums in the same category. There are a bunch of expensive models but the top rated ones under $200 are: In order from top to bottom in the rating. -Eureka Boss Smart Vac 4870 ($150) *CR Best Buy -Hoover Tempo Widepath U5140-900 ($70) -Eureka Boss 4D 5893 ($140) -Hoover Mach5 U5194-900 ($200) -Hoover EmPower U5262-910 -Bissell Momentum 82G71 -Bissell Lift-Off Revolution Turbo 3760-1 ($170) So if you can find a couple of these and compare them, you will be the smart shopper. By the way. The number one and number two picks by consumer reports were two different models of the Kenmore (Sears) Progressive with Direct Drive (one is bagless, the other one has a bag) The Eureka above is listed at third (has a bag). Dyson came in 9th.
