Definitely dry cleanWool should never be washed as the shrinkage percent is too high ! I was sweaters with a very small amount of wool but you must not wring or twist and they should be laid on a towel ,blocked and rolled upWhen water has been absorbed, place on dry towel and lay on a sweater screen to dryBoiled wool is wool that has been washed purposely to shrink and harden the fabricThis is done before the pattern is cut out.
WOOL IS VERY TRICKY!! It curls up locks w/ water OR heat, so be careful! However, all that being said, I accidentally left my ivory wool GORGEOUS 1970s full length, lined overcoat outside in the pouring rainIt was so saturated, it weighted 50 lbs! I called the cleaner he wanted me to bring it right away he'd work on it In the meantime, I hung it over my deck railing forgot about it for 2 daysIt dripped dry is GORGEOUS CLEAN! Fresh wonderful! It was cold rainwater no heat so I guess that saved it from total ruinI don't suggest that method, but IF you wash it, just soak in cold water in bathtub, swish around, rinse let it drip dryNo agitating in a machine! No anything hot.
dry cleaners if you like your jacket
