Question:

Deodorant and Aluminum ?

I read the back of my deodorant and it said that it contains 14% Aluminum. Is that harmful for my baby?

Answer:

It's probably an anti-perspirant, right? That blocks sweat glands and is not healthy for you; not sure about the baby. You should only use deodorant - not anti-perspirant.
Yes! Anything that goes into your body goes into the babies! It's a very toxic element, much like mercury. It can cause many forms of cancer, but for women, mainly breast cancer.
I thought the answer was no, but wow after reading everyones response, i will assume i was wrong. I never would hav even thought of deodorant as being harmful. Hmmm I guess now I kow for the next time around. Thanks.. =)
If you have to use antiperspirant then use one with very little aluminum. Deodorant has no aluminum. It is very bad for women generally it has been linked with giving people, especially women breast cancer. The aluminum goes into the blood stream and creates clots over time. Note to naive Krispy down bellow: seriously, get a clue.
If there was solid proof and research that showed it was bad for you or baby while pregnant your doctor would have told you not to use it. It's a matter of debate and controversy still and has been for many years, and I'm sure it will continue to be for many years. If you are worried, you can by aluminum free anti-perspirants, I believe Tom's of Maine makes one that is very effective. Or you can use one that just contains less.
