Did Light care at all about L, and did L care about Light?
I did get the feeling L unintentionally had begun to care for Light, and even, perhaps unconsciously, considered him a friend. But if that had been the case, it definitely was not mutual. Light undoubtedly did not care one bit for L, only wished him dead all along. That desire never changed whilst Light possessed all of his memories, he was merely acting.
Light didn't care about anyone but himself. Did you guys remember when L dead and Light has an evil look on his face? Does that sound like a person that cares about a person? I believe Light only cared about people beyond their well-being. If he was put in a situation whereas he had to kill terrorists to save people, he would kill the terrorists. It goes to show you he cares about people. A person who didn't care wouldn't act in the situation. It's not like he would let a person starve to death.
so of course, L care about what's light do because it's one job to find clues that light is kira and of course light also care about L,in order to compete with L, light needs to pay attention to gestures L. there will be no competition without two people who know one another to seek each other's weaknesses..
Light was a selfish douchebag, I don't think he cared about anyone but himself. And as far as I know (I stopped watching the show) L didn't really care about Light either, he was just doing his job. BUT I stopped watching the show, things have probably changed since then.
