Have a 2004 Land Rover Defender T5. 180,000 miles. Runs and starts good but lots of smoke coming from the oil cap hole once removed. Dont want to rebuild, any oil additives or viscosity temp fixes until i rebuild. How do i know its not from valves? Thanks
a lot of diesels have a more blow by then you would think. Does it use a lot of oil. If not I would drive it man.
Ben is right, no additives will cure piston ring blow bye. The best thing to do to prevent that is regular oil changes. 180,000 miles is low for a Diesel engine to be worn out.
No additives will cure your problem. The engine is worn out and will need to be rebuilt to fix it properly. You can know it's not from the valves because the valves have no connection with the crankcase.
