I have a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the auto door locks are a pain in the backside! According to the owner's manual you have to take it to the dealer to have it disabled. Does anybody know how it's done?
Why is it a pain? The doors open from inside without any special effort, and the locks are designed to prevent people from jumping into your car when you don't want them to [Hijacking, Stoplight mugging etc] And, before you say it, the Emergency Services have their own way of getting in if there's been an accident.
I have no clue, but I agree with you that would be a pain. Where I live nobody locks their doors ...not the car doors anyway, and many don't bother locking the house doors. My car keys usually stay in the ignition, that way I'll always know where they are... and that way, if I'm somewhere and parked in someone's way, they can move the car out of the way without having to bother me. Your earlier commenter will probably think I live 100 years ago, LOL.
