do all landfills have plastic in them? and if its a state law, what states allow the dumping of plastics into landfills?
in the Philippines plastic is removed by hand as it is thrown from the garbage lorries. it is the sold to those who recycle plastics
I would say even cities with good recycling programs still have plastic in the landfills, most modern landfills were built about 40 years ago when they found toxins were leaching into ground water, and many of them are still in use. At that time we didn't have a lot of plastic in our life and we didn't recycle any of it. There are still whole states that have virtually no recycling programs, they are generally poorer states or states that have an abundance of land. Think Southern and Mid Western states, although many of them are becoming more aware of the environmental impact and improving their programs. These are also states that allow other states to truck there waste in and are willing to take much of the toxic waste from the coal industry and things like the gulf oil spill.
