Question:

DO Betta Fish need Light?

My Uncle Has a Betta and he has a Light onhim. His Father always Turns It Off. Does the Betta need Light?

Answer:

A Betta needs light and not total darkness all the time. But, it does not need a light directly on it like an aquarium. Mine is on a table near a window so it gets bright natural light, no direct sun. In winter when it is darker outside, I have a small table lamp that I put on when I feed him.
all fish need some light and warmth but don't over heat the lil guy. for my betta i just keep him on my kithen table as a center piece where he gets undirect light from the kitchen window so he doesn't get fried but he's warm temperature.
Why'll most fish can survey without light. Most fish need light to see their food by. In the wild fish get by with daylight. So I would suggest that you give your Uncle a small appliance timer or you suggest to him that he should get one.
Actually it's bad to keep your betta in too much light. Do not turn on the light at night. I think about 5 hours max a day.But not all Bettas like the dark. Just don't light up the tank in general
no the light is more for us to see him but he might be useing the light to heat the bowl and fish do need warmth
