Do i have to use copper pipe to plumb a hot water heater,or will PVC do?

Answer:

To keep from having problems in the future, you should use copper. PVC will not stand up to the hot water and will need to be replaced after continued use.
Alkali metals reacts with cold water vigorously.Alkali earth metals reacts with hot water vigorously.DO you know burning magnesium in a dark room is a very interesting thing to do.It will glow whole area.Group one elements are very corrosive they reats air with bubbles.SO they are kept in oil.
The IIA group elements are called alkaline earth metals. they are:beryllium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, radium. their general E.C. is ns2 they react with oxygen to form oxides, sometimes they even form nitrides. they react with halogens to form halides. their general extraction procedure is by electrolysis. you have a detail chapter on alkaline earth metals in Andhra pradesh govt. 10th std. physics and chemistry text book. It also describes reaction of these elements with hydrogen, water, chlorine, oxygen etc.
In the same big box aisle as water heaters you will find flexible copper tubing of varying lengths which have fittings on either end designed to connect from the water source to the heater and from the heater to the supply pipes. Much easier to work with than rigid pipes. Be sure to measure for length before you go to purchase.
CPVC IS OK. PVC CAN'T TAKE HEAT!
