Question:

do I need copper pipe to hook a pool heater to a propane tank?

I have a Hayward Pool Heater and need to hook it up to a 100lb propane tank.is there a cheaper way then copper pipe? Thanks!

Answer:

they don't necessarily hold better (that depends on your type of hair), but they do look more natural, since they are looser, softer curls as opposed to the ringlets that a curling iron makes.
You need to check the plumbing codes in your municipality. If you hook it up with a flex line, etc., and it does not meet code your insurance company may refuse to cover any fire damage.
In reality, each tool is designed for a different purpose so I would reccomend using a curling iron or rollers to curl your hair as suppose to a flat iron which is used for the exact opposite purpose.
Most plumbing supply or home centers stock a reinforced rubber high pressure propane connecting lines with the connector fittings already attached.

A 100lb tank is not going to run a pool heater properly. It does not have enough mass to produce adequate vapour to feed a large burner like a pool heater. You see.A propane tank is not just a storage device. It is also a vaporizor. It has to absorb heat out of the air around it to make the liquid propane inside boil and produce vapor. A pool heater is like running 3 or 4 furnaces in an average house depending on the size of your pool. A 100lb cylinder will run for a couple of hours at the most and then freeze up. It wont be producing enough vapor for the heater to operate properly. If you are going to use 100lb cylinders, you will need to manifold at least two, probably three of them together to obtain enough of what we call wetted surface area to feed a pool heater. Even then, they will freeze up before you ever run them completely out. You really need to contact a propane company and have a 123 gallon tank installed. Anyway. To answer yor question as asked. You can use copper line, but it has to of large enough size to feed an adequate propane supply to the heater. It depends on how far the line is running what material and size is required. This really should be installed, or at the very least inspected, by a qualified gas fitter before this appliance is turned on. Rubber lines will not meet propane installation codes for a pool heater. It will have to be copper tubing or black iron pipe.
