Question:

Do limes dye my hair the same as lemons?

I do not have lemons, as I prefer limes to flavor my food. And I really want to try this today. So if apply lime juice on a a couple of strands on my hair and go out to the sun, my hair will lighten up and go blond? I have light brown hair by the way.

Answer:

I have lemon and lime trees in my back yard. The lemon is a Ponderosa lemon and makes lemons the size of footballs if you pick off most of the fruit. It isn't as easy a grow as a lime tree. Here they grow like weeds and the only problem is when it freezes. We call them Mexican limes and everyone else calls them key limes. We squeeze them on most things and are much healthier for it. Limes come in all at once so it's feast or famine but my poor little lemon tree just keeps several big lemons on it getting ripe so I can pick one every so often. If you are further north or live in colder areas, they just aren't for citrus. I also have a ruby red grapefruit tree and a juice orange and a wild orange...grew up from below the graft and so is sour...but good for marinades are people that must control sugar and you can sweeten with diet sugar. All citrus grows well in warm climates without freezes quite easily. Other fruit trees require days of freezing weather and at certain times for them to grow and produce correctly.
