around the house. Im looking for a step up transformer to handle 1.5VAC-18VAC with a ratio of 1:10 or 1:20. Which household objects would contain this??
Depends on your house. Unless you collect electronic parts, the odds are about zero. Even inside appliances and such, the only tranformers are stepdown from 120 to about 12 volts. .
The voltage makes no difference to the transformer but only current the ratio. There are buck boost transfromers that can be bought with only a few dollars that will give you the AC voltage you want. The schemetic is difficult to read with a buck boost transformer but if you know basic electronics then it will be a snap after you sat and thought about it.
well if you use a step down transformer in reverse, it might work. most power blocks will have it, the big heavy cube things you plug into a wall then into some device. a 12 volt power supply should in theory have a 10:1 step down take that in reverse and you'll have 1:10 step up 6-12 volt output block transformer is what you should look for (assuming your wall power is 115-120 AC).
