Me, I change the all the batteries when one of the alarms starts to chirp. They usually last a couple of years. The alkaline batteries are not the worst stuff out there. (Think Ni-Cad). But, at least around here, they have quasi-madatory recycling for batteries.
I drive a '91 Ramcharger. It has 258,000 miles.The standard 318ci is a good reliable power plant. The only thing about the eingene is that I wish it had a little more power on the highway.The truck climbs extremely well in 4- low. I am very satisfied with that. As far as maintaing the vehicle, just make sure to keep up with scheduled oil changes with using a good oil filter, which are not all the same. also keep a close watch on your computer sensors, as that will determine the way it runs. I made the mistake of running discount gaseline in the vehicle, which plugged up my catilytic converter, and oxegen sensor. I had the O2 sensor replaced and my catilytic converter removed. Now the truck runs better than it ever did, because now it can breathe the way it should. I have a 4 inch lift kit on the truck and I am running 32-11.50 tires, and a Borgeson steering shaft to make sure the steering stays tight. (factory 3.90 gears) Stock tires are 235/75-15's, according to the spec sheet , the vehicle puts out 190 HP with the 318 or 230HP with the 360. Gas mileage will be 10 or 11 in the city or about 16 MPG on the highway. 'hope this helps.
