I was wondering since this is the first time I'm going to add frosting on the cakeI'm only going to spread the frosting on topSo I was wonder if I need to refrigerate the cake? Will the cake turn hard and dry? Should I spread the frosting on the while cake? Is it better to frost the cake the night before or morning? Thanks for your answers!

You can or not! I always cover the cake with aluminum foilallow the cake to cool completely then frost! Hot cake melts the frostingI always frost/ice the cakes as soon as they are coolSlip your hand under the pan if leaving cake in pan, if cool to touch, Ice it!! If not and it is dinner time, ice itI do not allow cakes to sit very long at all before frosting/icing them! love to you, Grandma Lamb
