Do you think it's human nature to have unlimited NEEDS?
Check boat repair shop. They work with resin all the time. Don't forget a raised lip around the outside so the resin dosen't run off before it cures. There will be a problem with bubbles. Be sure to fill the underside of the shells. I think a glass top is a better option and cheaper.
As you are dealing with two different properties I would think the answer is NO
