i have a 2004 ford explorer and it runs a little rough i was thinking of putting a additive in the fuel to clean out everything but dont know if it is worth it, Or maybe theres something else i could do. I know i should take it in, but thats not the answer im looking for here.
In my personal experience, yes, additives help. I add fuel injector cleaner about once every month or two. I notice an increase in economy within a quarter tank or so. On the other hand, and of course its only my humble opinion, changing the fuel filter every two years is an even better investment.
Can't hurt. The fuel injector cleaner additives might even help somewhat if you've got an injector or two that's not atomizing the fuel properly. Try it - the only thing you've got to lose is the price of the additive, and it might save you a trip to the repair shop.
