Question:

Does any one know if a Laser 1 Racing dinghy can accommodate/hoist a jib?

im thinking of buying one

Answer:

No. There is no provision for any stays or shrouds in this one design racing hull. Modifying it like that will prevent any class compliance, and in the future unless all hull changes can be fully reverted. It is one of the most successful designs in history, with total numbers in the 200,000's. It will be far more cost effective to find a 420, Laser 2 or whatever similar design that has head sails if this is what you really want.
the laser 1 is a class dinghy, the main sail has a sleeve that fits over the mast so the main sail would have to be modified to be able to attach the top of a jib. additionally extra fittings would meed to be attached to the boat for the bottom of the jib to be attached to, turning blocks or fairleads would need to be attached for jib sheets, blocks or cams would need to be attached to the deck to cleat the jib sheets off to. and because the top section of the mast is bendy, you would either need to replace it or add shrouds to support the mast (along with mast attachment points and dect attachment points. by doing the above your laser would no longer be class legal. bottom line, yes a jib can be attached, but it will cost $$$$, and you need to modify the boat to do so. also you may find that their is a balance problem with the boat because a jib will modify the center of balance. you will be better off to find a different boat designed with a head sail. hope this helps
maximum extremely!!!!! regardless of the undeniable fact that they do race COT sized automobiles on airborne dirt and dirt (professional shares, great shares, IMCA inventory automobiles, etc....) objective geared up airborne dirt and dirt great overdue fashions may be a extra constructive selection, and because lots of the drivers already very own them and function journey driving them it would be an particularly solid and acceptable race. Even those without previous airborne dirt and dirt track journey like Kevin Harvick and Juan Pablo Montoya have picked it up incredibly a lot throughout the time of the Prelude. might choose for to observe out for Carl Edwards although. final time he became in a SLM (at I-80 Speedway, precise up the line from me) he dislocated his thumb after being in touch in a destroy that took out a million/2 of the function container, jointly along with his brother Kenny.
