Typically, denim fabric is woven from 100% cotton but is also made using a blend of cotton and nylon or cotton, nylon and polyester. The most comfortable denim is made from 100% cotton but the most durable is woven from a blend of cotton, nylon and polyester. This last was featured most prominently by Sears Roebuck Co. during the 1970s for its best selling Toughskins brand of boys jeans having reinforced knees. What distinguishes denim from other fabrics is the twill weave that exposes a distinct ridged pattern to the cloth. If the warp yarn is a different color from the weft yarn, the overall color of the fabric will appear as different shades from one side to the other.
