I am not sure.I've heard it too,my friends have tried burning it.Itseems it melts so maybe it does contain plastic.
Kurkure chips does not contain any plastic. When you burn Kurkure, it smells like plastic because of the presence of corn starch. Try burning golgappas, matharees, namkeens, etc; it burns the same way. Any edible item which contains 30% oil burns the same way.
