My teacher told me that light is electromagnetic radiation, so shouldnt light have weight then, because electromagnetic radiation all have an accelerating charge that cause them to exsist in vaccums. all charges have a weight no matter how small, (electrons, protons, alpha particles). i dunno im so confused, someone explain to me what causes light to travel at that speeds faster than mechanical waves, and their ability to travel in vaccums and not require matter to undergo a wave motion?
Light is pure energy it has no mass thus it has no weight. It does have momentum and kinetic energy. Here is the mass speech: Light has mass? Light particles (Photons) are pure energy and exist only when in motion. We can debate if photons have mass. Because of Einstein's E = Mc^2 matter and energy are 2 forms of the same thing. Since photons have energy it can be argued that they have Relativistic Mass.
