It seems that my car is rusting quicker since parking over lime stone.
Unless you know you have a ph issue I wouldn't put lime on roses at all. They tend to like acidic soil and by making it more alkaline (with lime ) you may interrupt the ability of the plant to uptake nutrients. My heirloom roses do wonderfully with a fall application (spring is ok too) of about 6 inches of good compost.
