Batteries should last about 4 years in a smoke detector. You had plenty of time to buy new batteries.
I don't think I understand your question. You want to use resin but don't want to embed anything in it? And you don't want to have to print anything out, but you want a pink zebra design? I guess you could just glue a fabric you'd found (cheetah or zebra fabric would be much easier than pink zebra**) to the back side of a pre-formed and cured/hardened piece of resin (or glass or plastic, or even a hardened blob of epoxy glue). To attach the fabric to the resin, use E6000 or 2-part epoxy glue, or even a permanent white glue if strong enough. Not sure what else to suggest since again not sure what you're wanting. ** you could though dye a regular bw zebra fabric pink, and the dye would show only in the white areas or you could just paint (with acrylic paint, e.g.) or otherwise color in the white areas with pink .
