Question:

Dog question?

So why are dogs afraid of vacuum cleaners?

Answer:

Not all dogs are afraid of them but I think most are really interested in them. I think it's the noise and the movement. Catledog owners almost universally tell of our dogs wanting to herd the vacuum! :-)
Don't worry! My dog was the same way! They are scared because of the noise and are afraid that THE THING is going to get them. Good luck! :^)
The noise from them have a sharp pitch to them that us humans can not hear and it ends up hurting the dogs ears. My dog attacks the vacuum lol.
I think it hurts their ears cuz they are able to pick up more frequencies than humans and have sharper hearing.
it is the same principle as the dog whistles. Dogs have much more sensitive hearing than humans so dogs hear sounds that a vacuum cleaner emits that we do not hear. Thats why dogs always seem to go after vacuum cleaners; they get annoyed and/or frightened by the sounds.
