I seem to recall people of that era volunteered for a community based neighborhood watch, along with kids being instructed to gather up scrap metals to help aid in the building of weaponryWas this act a for of Nazism.Any thoughts on this one? Is this anything that sounds familiar to recent election events/thoughts?

The gathering of scrap metal happened during WW 11 in AmericaIt was aluminum peeled from cigarette packages into big balls and sold for the end the war effortThere were American Air Raid wardens in most towns and sirens that went off signaling to turn lights off at night because of a possible air raid attackI lived on the east coast, and remember talk about German subs being spotted by fisherman right off of Americas shoresIn America it was called Patriotism, because we were all committed to ending the war as soon as possibleI don't know what they called it in Germany, or Europe.
