How do i wire two lights on a 3-way switchi have been messing around with this forever. If you have any web links to diagrams or can word it out that would be greatthanks
Buy Hubbell switches there is a diagram inside the box that makes it very clear. You need the switches anyway.
I found the below link by Googling 3-way switch wiring under Images.
This is one of the easiest of the intermediate wiring circuits to do.To start, you must identify the power wire and it's neutral (white), then connect the neutral wire to the lights. Connect the black lead from each light together and to the common of one of the switches. Connect the other 2 terminals of the switches to each of the wires that connect to the other switch, Now connect the hot wire to the common terminal on the last switch. If you use a white wire for a power lead, you should mark it with a piece of black tape around the insulation. One of the other responders has a very good link that shows just how it should be done.
The grounded conductor (neutral) wire always goes to the light fixture. The ungrounded (hot) conductor feeds one switch. Picture the switch terminals as the letter Y; the hot conductor terminates on the bottom of one of the Ys, the two travelers run between the two tips of the Ys, and the switch leg runs from the base of the other Y to the hot terminal on the fixture. With 2 fixtures, just add additional conductors between the two lights; in parallel, not in series. If your wiring is in a raceway system (any type of conduit), remember, never run just one conductor in a raceway. This means your neutral will be passing through other boxes, along with the switch legs and circuit conductors. Be sure not to overfill the raceway. With a cable installation, you will be splicing all of the conductors at every box, so watch out for overfilling the boxes. Be sure you bond your equipment grounding conductor to the boxes if they are metal.
