Question:

Electrolysis of Copper.?

Describe and explain how electrolysis is used to make pure copper from a lump of impure copper.

Answer:

they stick a lump of impure copper into an aqueous solution, and run an electric current thru it so that the impure copper releases Cu ions into the water (reduction reaction, at cathode) and at the other end the Cu ions form a solid Cu by the oxidation reaction. i know that didnt make much sense or sound very technical but that's the basic basics of it.. im pretty sure.
