Engineering geological properties of sandstone
The engineering geological properties of different sandstones are different. The siliceous sandstone has high strength, strong anti weathering ability, large water absorption, easy softening, poor strength and stability.
The main components are: more than 52% of quartz composition; clay around 15%; goethite about 18%; other substances more than 10%. If the quartz content is above 90%, it is called quartz sandstone. Argillaceous siltstone is mainly composed of silt and clay minerals.
