if u feel its not safe, then its probably not. i dont think its safe cause they r meant for outdoors
Saturate the wood in resin before you start, seal the screws with 3m 5200 or, better yet, drill oversize holes, fill with epoxy then fasten through that, you'll have a box that will be protected from water for a couple decades or more.
FB resin has no strength without the fiber glass
Use epoxy - polyester resin is far too brittle for that purpose. Apply three coats 'hot' (as the previous coat gels apply the next coat on top) for best water proofing paying particular attention to the end grain - but you must apply protective coats of varnish (at least 6) or a suitable two pack finish system for UV proofing. As the mechanical strength of the box is in the timber and screws glass fibre is not required, but applying thickened Epoxy as a fillet to internal junctions gives but greater strength and stiffness to the structure. Go to West Systems web site (or the brand of quality epoxy of your choice) for specific and well detailed instructions.
