Question:

Exhaust Tube on an '83 Camaro With TBI Cross-Fire FI?

I was wondering what the aluminum looking tube is for that runs up from the top of the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner assembly, It seems to be on all TBI Camaro'sWhat is it for?

Answer:

Use plastic container like Rubbermaid with some foil on the bottom to lift it out easy.
it,s part of the thermactor system.it,s supposed to draw heat into the air filter canister on cold day,s.but I have never seen one on an injected system.also refer-ed to as a choke stove.was only used on pre computerized / carburetor ed system, sif you have seen this on other T.B.Iengine,s then I must be thinking of something else since adding heat will not have an effect on a throttle body injection system, computer,s enrich the mixture from information recieved from temperature sensor,s.I don,t know what else it could be especially coming from the exhaust manifold.maybe it was an early attempt to introduce warm air into the intake.but like I said.I have never seen one.sorry.
