Ferrosilicon belongs to pig iron?
The pig iron is an alloy of iron and carbon carbon content greater than 2%, the carbon content of pig iron industry in general 2.5%--4%, and C, SI, Mn, containing S, P and other elements, is the use of iron ores in blast furnace products. According to the different forms of carbon in pig iron, and can be divided into several kinds of iron, steel and iron casting and ductile iron. So ferrosilicon does not belong to the pig iron
Iron alloy is composed of silicon and ferrosilicon iron. Ferrosilicon is coke, steel scrap, quartz (or silica) as raw material, made of silicon iron alloy smelting furnace. Because the silicon and oxygen easily synthesized silica, so ferrosilicon often used in steelmaking as deoxidizer.
Ferrosilicon has a good magnetic conductivity, can be used as the core of the transformer, not iron.
